Whether it's corporate videos, advertisements, documentaries or web productions, the audiovisual post-production is a decisive step that guarantees the quality and effectiveness of your video content. It is during this phase that your audiovisual object really comes to life, where every detail is refined to ensure the coherence of the whole. From storytelling to aesthetics, to correcting mistakes and customizing for your target audience, audiovisual post-production is the step that connects all the elements of your video project to create an impactful and memorable final product. We have prepared all the ingredients, all that's left is to assemble them to make the recipe for your movie
La audiovisual post-production is much more than a simple finishing formality. It is a creative and technical phase that offers many essential advantages to guarantee the success of your video, it is punctuated by 5 main steps.
Step 1: Deserushing
De-rushing consists of reviewing all the videos, called footage, that have been shot, and selecting the best moments that will actually be used in your movie. This work can be similar to that of a sculptor who removes superfluous parts from his block of marble in order to reveal the first silhouette of his sculpture.
Step 2: the BAB
BAB, or Bout To Bout, consists of putting each of the selected shots in the right order so that they tell the story we have imagined. This very raw pre-edit does not bother with effects, rhythm, calibration or transitions; we are especially interested in putting the messages we want to convey in the right order. It involves selecting, ordering, and editing images to create a cohesive and engaging story. The editor works closely with the director to ensure that the final product matches the original vision.
Step 3: Editing in audiovisual post-production
Starting with the BAB, we will remove the superfluous, focus on the sequences, the arrangement of the different planes to give shape to one's speech. If the BAB focuses on the content (what we mean), the assembly focuses on the form (how do you say it).
Editing in audiovisual post-production is a powerful tool for improving storytelling. By creatively assembling footage, editors can reinforce the flow of the story, highlight key moments, and give deeper meaning to the video's message. For example, a sequence can be rearranged to create more suspense or to highlight a certain emotion.
It is also during this phase that the pace of the video is set, thus helping to maintain the viewer's attention.
Step 4: Calibration and sound design
This post-production stage makes it possible to refine and improve the aesthetics of the video. Whether it's through color correction to set a certain tone to the video, or by adding visual effects to increase the impact of certain scenes, post-production plays a crucial role in creating an immersive visual and sound experience.
Color correction is a subtle but essential step in post-production. It improves the overall aesthetics of the video by adjusting the color, saturation, and brightness of images. Good color correction can make the video look more professional and help create the desired ambiance.
Sound mixing is a step that is too often underestimated and can greatly affect the viewer's experience. It involves adjusting and balancing the various sound elements in the video, such as dialogue, music, sound effects, and background sounds. A quality sound mix creates an auditory experience that complements and enriches the visual experience. It is even said that sound represents 70% of the image we see. The same image with lively music or nerve-wracking music will give two opposing results.
Step 5: Skin and FX design
Special effects are added to enhance the visual impact of the video. This can include animations, transition effects, overlays, and other visual elements. Special effects can bring scenes to life that would otherwise be impossible to film, or simply add an element of surprise for the viewer.
This last layer of varnish on your film completes your product, it's a bit like paper that completes the gift to make it even more desirable.
